The Falken Tire Corporation is a Japanese brand introduced to the United States market in 1990. They are a tire and wheel brand that has a huge impact in the drifting and “Tuner” car culture that has swept the performance of the auto industry in the past decade. Nothing makes a statement like winning, and with team drivers such as Vaugn Grittin Jr., Falken has become a team and tire to contend within a Formula Drift Series. Along with drifting competitions, Falken is also in its second year of competition in the ALMS (American Le Mans Series) campaigning their own Porsche 911 RSR in the GT-2 category.

Falken has entered the all terrain tire market and is displaying their new tires on a very impressive Jeep. To assist in the display, The Shop designed and built a single wheel ramp to lift one front tire to 2′ at the bottom of the tire, integrating a 32″ flat screen into the face of the rock for video presentation. It was a quick build to meet the SEMA Show move-in dates, but we were very happy with the result.

If you’re at the SEMA Show, please stop by the Falken Tire booth #43025 and take a look at their new display, or stay tuned for more photos and updates.

The Shop @ ShowReady is pleased to announce that we won Event Design Magazine’s 2009 Bronze Award for the Star Trek: The Tour attraction in the Best Outdoor Consumer Event Exhibit/Environment category.

Designed by Paramount Studios under the creative direction of Herman Zimmerman, The Shop @ ShowReady was contracted to fabricate the majority of the design elements for Star Trek: The Tour. The attraction included a full-scale replica of the Bridge from the original series, which integrated the actual Captain’s Chair used by William Shatner in the first Star Trek series.

A major feature of this attraction was the 250-person 360-degree theater with a 2,000 lb. rotating hexagon screen that was lowered after each presentation. The theater was built with aluminum I-beam construction and assembled on sight with a ten-ton crane.

For more information about how we can build your vision please contact us by email or call us at 714.367.9265.

A mythical island and gargantuan monsters are part of the fantasy brought to the big screen by Warner Bros. in Where the Wild Things Are, which has recently found renewed popularity at the box office. Additionally, the interest in this story goes beyond film, with highly visible events such as ComicCon 2009 – where The Shop’s work was on display. We stepped up to create the fort from the Wild Things Island. An incredibly creative and detailed project, it was important to design and fabricate a structure that conveyed the emotions of this classic story. Bringing this fantasy world to life was a complex task – one that The Shop was proud to be a part of.

The Shop was excited to take on the careful job of crafting the fort that would be viewed by many critical eyes (ComicCon 2009 brought in over 125,000 attendees!). With generations of readers looking forward to the new Wild Things, we wanted our creation to satisfy the imagination of all who love this children’s book. We worked diligently to fabricate a sturdy piece to withstand extended use during numerous events and that also portrayed the vision of the original book. Materials used in this fabrication include: custom bent metal rods, wood platform, live bare tree twigs and branches, PVC tubes, epoxy and faux scenic paint finish (all FR rated). The final product stirred up excitement and brought delight to all who fell in love with the original Where the Wild Things Are story (written by Maurice Sendak).

It’s another unique project from The Shop that we wanted to share with you!
